Iron oxide black 4950

Iron oxide minium is hematite which is a naturally occurring soil pigment. Pigments have a special ability to counteract the formation of rust on iron as the structure of the pigment is similar to fish scales that form an armor like pattern. In combination with linseed oil, this makes it very difficult for water to come into contact with the iron. The pigment has the advantage of not being harmful to health and therefore replaces the toxic lead mint as an anti-corrosion pigment. The pigment is fully lightfast and suitable for all color typoes and painting techniques. It also has a strong opacity and can be used in aqueous medium for example mud paint.
